dream big

foxtrot press - let's go to stationery academy!

if you hadn’t noticed from my alt recaps (if you missed them, read them here and here), i’m really inspired now. i’ve also decided that i’m going to go after some big dreams and goal this year (like, for reals). as far as my letterpress work goes, i’m looking to make a bunch of great connections and pushing myself to get a full product line going.

i’ll be attending the stationery show in may in nyc and am looking forward to not only walking the show but seeing my friend’s booths (both letter & lark and ladyfingers letterpress have booths this year… so exciting!!). i’m hoping to cultivate some more amazing connections while i’m there and it’s so inspiring to see everyone’s hard work come together at such a great event.

in addition to the stationery show, i’m hoping to attend stationery academy in august. stationery academy is a branding and business workshop for creatives in the paper and personalization industry. it’s run by whitney english (who is super sweet and talented) and natalie chang and i’ve heard nothing but good things about it. if alt taught me one thing, it’s that going to focused conferences can bring about huge change. i’ve already gotten a push in the right direction and am actively working towards having a full stationery line ready to launch in march (i know, big goal!). i’m learning as much as i can about this industry and i think stationery academy could really help catapult me into a new world.

needless to say, these things totally energize me and make me happy. i’m ready to dive into things whole-heartedly now and see where it takes me. i’ve never shied away from dreaming big but acting big? well, i need to follow through on that!

for those of you that attended alt, do you have any big goals you’re passionately tackling now? i’d love to hear about them!

be happy link up

yeah, it’s definitely on the ambitious side. at least i have some good ideas in place already (and i totally forgot that february is shorter than all the other months, so this is now an extreme goal, haha!)

I haven’t quite been able to wrap my mind around everything yet — it was easy to share recaps of the panels, but now I have to figure out exactly what I want to do with the information. Alt gave me so many ideas, and now I have to figure out which ones are most important and what to pursue first. I need about 50 more hours in the day.

i also need 50 more hours in the day. there’s still so much info buzzing around in my head (and it’s been almost 2 weeks now) and i’m trying to put some of those lessons to good use now. i’ve decided to make it my goal to transition into a self-employed role within a year (seriously kinda crazy and ambitious) and to take more risks! i’m just thrilled to be inspired again… yay!

hey erika! i obviously didn’t go to alt, but now that i’ve read everyone’s recaps my huge goal is to GO to alt next year. i wanna get my blog rolling. it’s been so slow i guess, mostly because i’m holding myself back. i’m trying to get over it, and it’s slowly working…it’ll come along. i just want to have a better idea and direction in my head and be ready for alt next january. good luck with your stationery line!! i love letterpress.

definitely go! last year, i made it my goal to attend alt this year and i made it happen. my blog is still all over the place and i would love to devote a ton of time and energy towards it… but it’s okay that i haven’t been able to do that yet! just keep working at it and it will grow… plus, once you get into the habit of posting regularly, it feels really weird when you skip a night! i’ll keep my fingers crossed for you to join us at alt next year (i’m definitely hoping to snag a ticket and go again!).

I say you should go to the Stationery Academy. It’s those very specific workshops that’ll really get your name out there in whatever industry you’re in. My goal this year is to attend the Barista Guild of America and then BlogSHop in Philly. Maybe I can even add your event into the mix. Anyway, glad you had fun times at ALT and thanks for sharing your loot of wisdom to us guys who couldn’t go.

i’m definitely contemplating just signing up and going! i think it will definitely be the push to really launch things for me. i feel like the barista guild of america just held an event not too long ago in the building i live in (i could be wrong but it smelled amazing the whole time it was happening!). and blogshop is really a great workshop, too! i interned last year for the boston session and i learned things myself, which i thought i already knew everything there was to know in photoshop! i hope you get to attend both of the events! and i’m happy to share my experiences with everyone… i’m glad they’re helpful!

thanks, kelsey! i’m really hoping to make it happen… but i’m also not going to beat myself up if my goal has to move around a bit. and i’m finally getting back into a routine after getting back from alt… only took 2 weeks!
